O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove this suffering, and heal him, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness behind.
Allahumma Rabb an-nas, adhhabil-ba's, ishfi Antash-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uka shifa'an la yughadiru saqama.
When to Read
This powerful dua is particularly recommended for recitation on Friday, a blessed day. It can be recited during your personal supplications, especially in the late hours of the night (the last third of the night) when Allah descends to the lowest heaven, or after obligatory prayers. It's especially potent when the sick person is directly addressed or when you make dua for a loved one who is unwell.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere conviction and belief in Allah's power to heal. Place your hand on the area of pain or illness while reciting, if possible. Repeat it multiple times, focusing your heart on seeking Allah's help. It's also beneficial to combine this with seeking forgiveness (istighfar) and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a direct supplication taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his companions for healing. It acknowledges Allah as the ultimate Healer, emphasizing that true recovery comes only from Him. The phrase 'a healing that leaves no illness behind' expresses a profound hope for complete restoration. Making dua on Friday is also considered a significant act, as the Prophet ﷺ mentioned a time on Friday when prayers are answered.
