Dua for a Heart Overflowing with Gratitude and Contentment on Friday

Friday / Jumuah
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1604

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is particularly potent on Friday. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often recite it after the Fajr prayer on Friday, but its benefits are immense when made anytime on this blessed day, especially after the Jumu'ah prayer. Imagine sitting after Jumu'ah, the blessings of the day still fresh, and turning to Allah with this sincere plea.

How to Read

Recite with sincerity and presence of heart. Raise your hands, as is customary for supplication, and implore Allah. Focus on each part of the dua: the desire for knowledge that benefits, sustenance that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by our Creator. Let the request for 'acceptable deeds' fill you with the hope that your prayers, your charity, and your efforts on this day are received.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua covers the essentials for a fulfilling life in this world and the next. Beneficial knowledge allows us to worship Allah correctly and navigate life's challenges. Goodly provision frees us from dependence on others and ensures our worship is not tainted by unlawful earnings. Finally, the acceptance of deeds is the ultimate goal, for our worship is meaningless if not accepted by Allah. Making this on Friday, a day of immense blessings, amplifies our hope for a positive response.
