O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disappearance of Your blessings, the reversal of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all that displeases You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done and the evil of what I have not done.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min sharri ma 'amiltu wa sharri ma lam a'mal.
When to Read
This comprehensive dua is powerful for any time, but especially poignant when you feel the weight of your actions, when a major sin has occurred, or when you simply feel a deep need for Allah's protection against your own shortcomings and the potential consequences. It's a beautiful practice to make it a regular part of your morning and evening remembrance (Adhkar).
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a heartfelt plea to Allah. Focus on the meaning of each phrase. Understand that you are seeking Allah's protection not just from external harm, but from the internal consequences of your own deeds, or even inaction. Imagine yourself standing before Allah, acknowledging your weakness and His absolute power and mercy. Make this a habit, especially after Fajr and Asr prayers, or whenever you feel a pang of regret or a sense of vulnerability.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is incredibly encompassing. It doesn't just ask for forgiveness for past sins, but actively seeks refuge from the *consequences* of our actions – both those we've committed and those we *failed* to do (which can also lead to sin). It shields us from the loss of divine favors, the turning away of good health, and sudden, devastating punishment. It's a profound shield against Allah's displeasure, covering all potential avenues of missteps.

Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to recite this supplication in the morning: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disappearance of Your blessings, the reversal of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all that displeases You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done and the evil of what I have not done.' And he would recite this in the evening: 'O Allah, we enter the morning with Your help and by Your decree, and we enter the evening with Your help and by Your decree, and we enter the morning with Your provisions and by Your command, and we enter the evening with Your provisions and by Your command. We love You and we love those who love You, and we love the deeds that bring us closer to You. O Allah, make us among those who are pleased with what You have given them, and those who guide and are guided.'
