O Allah, forgive me for my mistakes and my ignorance and my extravagance in my affairs, and what You know better about me than I. O Allah, forgive me for what I did jokingly and seriously, and my mistakes and my intentional sins, and my resolve and my jesting, and all of that is with me. O Allah, forgive me for what I have committed and what I have delayed, and what I have concealed and what I have declared, and what You know better about me than I. You are the One Who sends forth and You are the One Who delays, and You have power over all things.

‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: I never saw Allah’s Messenger ﷺ praying the voluntary night prayer for a long time, except that he would end it by praying eleven rak‘ahs, and he would say: ‘Aishah, do you know why I do this?’ I said: ‘No, by my father and mother.’ He said: ‘I am the best of Allah’s slaves and the most grateful of them. If I sleep or become sick, I miss the voluntary prayers that I miss from praying them during the night, I pray between Maghrib and ‘Isha’ prayer twelve rak‘ahs, and he mentioned a similar number of rak‘ahs for the night prayer. He said: ‘O Allah, forgive me for my mistakes and my ignorance and my extravagance in my affairs, and what You know better about me than I. O Allah, forgive me for what I did jokingly and seriously, and my mistakes and my intentional sins, and my resolve and my jesting, and all of that is with me.
