اللَّهُمَّ آتِنِي كِتَابِي بِيَمِينِي وَحَاسِبْنِي حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا
O Allah, give me my record in my right hand and bring me an easy reckoning.
Allahumma ATI-ni kitabi bi-yamini wa hasibni hisaban yaseera
When to Read
This dua is specifically associated with the Day of Judgment. However, the underlying sentiment of seeking an easy reckoning and acknowledging our deeds being presented before Allah can be a constant reflection. We can make a mental dua, or recite this with the intention of seeking Allah's mercy in this life and the next, especially after moments where we feel we may have misused our sight for something displeasing to Allah. It serves as a powerful reminder to be mindful of our actions throughout the day.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and deep reflection. Visualize yourself on the Day of Judgment, seeking Allah's grace. The intention is key: to acknowledge your deeds, including those perceived through your eyes, and to earnestly pray for Allah's gentle judgment. This is a personal supplication, best made when you are in a state of humility and remembrance of Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is directly from the supplications made on the Day of Judgment, seeking Allah's mercy and ease in the accounting of deeds. While not a specific dua for sins of the eyes *in this world*, its inclusion signifies the vastness of sins that will be accounted for. By asking for an 'easy reckoning' (حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا - hisaban yaseera), we are implicitly asking Allah to overlook our shortcomings and forgive our transgressions, including those committed through our senses like sight. The right hand symbolizes a favorable outcome on that Day.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah will bring a believer near to Him and cover him with His mercy, and He will hide him by His protection. He will ask him: 'Do you recognize (your sins)?' He will say: 'O Lord, I recognize.' He will say: 'What you did on such and such a day, do you recognize?' He will say: 'O Lord, I recognize.' Then Allah will say: 'I have screened them for you in the world, and I forgive them for you today.' Then he will be given the good deeds of all the people. And the disbelievers and the disbelieving hypocrites will be called out before all the people, saying: 'These are the ones who lied against Allah.' Verily, Allah is the Most Powerful, the All-Wise. And He will say: 'O Allah, give me my record in my right hand and bring me an easy reckoning.'
