How to Read
Utter this supplication with sincerity and a yearning heart. Visualize Allah's immense power over your heart, which is the very source of your intentions and actions. Focus on the meaning as you say it, internalizing the plea for divine assistance in remaining steadfast. Doing this regularly, perhaps after your obligatory prayers or during the quiet hours of the night, can help cultivate a deeper connection and reliance on Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit of this dua is achieving steadfastness (thabat) in faith. By asking the One who controls the hearts, we acknowledge our own limitations and seek the ultimate source of strength. This supplication directly addresses the fear of sin by requesting that our hearts remain firm in Allah's obedience, making us less susceptible to temptation and misguidance. It fosters a constant awareness of our need for Allah's help, which is the essence of true reliance (tawakkul).

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) often used to say: 'O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.' And he used to say: 'O Allah, Maker of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the hidden and the apparent, my Lord and the Lord of all things, I bear witness that there is no god but You, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul and from the evil of the Shaitan and his associating partners (with Allah), and from bringing evil upon myself or casting it upon any Muslim.'
