When to Read
This dua is vital when you've found yourself guided to the straight path, but a nagging fear lingers about falling back into misguidance. It's for those moments when you feel the weight of responsibility to remain steadfast, especially after realizing past mistakes or seeing others falter. Recite it in the quiet of the night, during the sunnah prayers, or any time you feel the need for Allah's constant support in maintaining your guidance.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a humble heart. Raise your hands slightly as you make the dua, looking towards the Qiblah if possible. Ensure you understand the meaning of the words: you are acknowledging Allah as the One who controls the inclinations of the heart and are asking Him to keep your heart firm upon His obedience. Repeat it consistently, especially after Fajr and Maghrib prayers, as this is a time when the Prophet ๏ทบ emphasized seeking protection.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly addresses the fear of losing guidance by seeking strength from the One who truly controls our hearts. The Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ, despite being the most guided, constantly turned to Allah for this very reason. It reminds us that steadfastness is not solely by our own effort, but a gift and protection from Allah. Regularly making this supplication fosters humility and reliance on Allah, which are essential for maintaining imaan (faith) and preventing misguidance.
