Dua for Protection from Fear of Being Left Behind

Fear
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2739

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disappearance of Your blessings, the reversal of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your wrath, and all that displeases You.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fuja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik

When to Read

This comprehensive dua is perfect for reciting during your daily prayers, especially after the obligatory prayers (Salat). It's also excellent to say in the morning and evening, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to seek Allah's protection from various evils during these times. Recite it whenever you feel a sense of unease about the future, a fear of losing what Allah has blessed you with, or a worry about falling short in your religious or worldly affairs.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a full heart, believing that Allah (SWT) is the ultimate protector. Raise your hands as you would in supplication. Utter the words clearly and with conviction. Reflect on each phrase: the 'disappearance of blessings' can refer to losing health, wealth, family, or even guidance; 'reversal of well-being' implies going from a state of ease to hardship; 'suddenness of wrath' warns against unexpected punishment; and 'all that displeases You' encompasses any sin or misguidance. This reflection deepens the meaning and impact of the dua.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua offers a powerful shield against various forms of fear and loss. By seeking refuge in Allah from the 'disappearance of Your blessings' and the 'reversal of Your well-being,' we are essentially asking Allah to safeguard us from falling behind in life – whether that means losing our good health, financial stability, spiritual connection, or even our standing in the sight of Allah. The fear of being 'left behind' can manifest as anxiety about failing in this life, not achieving success, or worse, not being among those who are successful in the hereafter. This supplication directly addresses that fear by asking for the preservation of Allah's favor and protection from His displeasure.
