Fear
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 4423

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive supplication, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself, seeks Allah's refuge from four key areas of distress: emotional turmoil (distress and sorrow), weakness of will (helplessness and laziness), character flaws (cowardice and stinginess), and overwhelming external pressures (debt and being overpowered). By reciting it, we acknowledge our limitations and place our complete reliance on Allah, the only one who can truly alleviate our fears and protect us from hardship.
