O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disappearance of Your blessings, and the reversal of Your well-being, and the sudden onset of Your punishment, and all that You are displeased with. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, and I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the oppression of men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fuja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazan, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasal, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-buhl, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.
When to Read
Recite this dua when you feel the weight of potential social isolation pressing down on you because of your adherence to Islamic principles. It's a powerful supplication to turn to when the fear of being ostracized, misunderstood, or alone for the sake of your deen starts to weaken your resolve. Say it in the quiet moments of the night, after your prayers, or whenever you feel that fear creeping in.
How to Read
With sincerity and conviction, raise your hands (if possible) and focus on the meaning of each phrase. Understand that true strength and refuge come from Allah alone. Repeat it earnestly, internalizing the plea for protection against the very things that can make one feel weak and isolated: worry, grief, helplessness, laziness, fearfulness, and the pressure of others.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua seeks Allah's protection from many afflictions, including those that contribute to feelings of social isolation. Seeking refuge from 'al-hazan' (grief) and 'al-jubn' (cowardice) directly addresses the emotional and mental states that can arise from fearing the judgment or exclusion of others. The mention of seeking refuge from 'qahr ar-rijal' (the oppression of men) is particularly relevant when facing the social pressures and potential negative consequences of upholding one's beliefs in a society that may not be understanding. By turning to Allah for refuge, we acknowledge our limitations and His omnipotence, finding inner peace and courage that transcends external circumstances.

The hadith narrates that Thumama bin 'Abdullah bin Anas narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to supplicate: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, and I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the oppression of men.'
