In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disappearance of Your blessings, and the reversal of Your protection, and the sudden punishment, and all of Your displeasure. And I seek refuge in You from the trials of the grave and the punishment of the grave. And I seek refuge in You from the trials of wealth, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of poverty. And I seek refuge in You from the trials of the False Messiah (Dajjal). O Allah, cleanse my heart with the water of snow and hail. And purify my heart from sins as You have purified the white garment from dirt. And keep me far from my sins as You have kept far the East and the West.
Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-qabr wa 'adhabil-qabr. Wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-ghina, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-faqr. Wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-masihid-dajjal. Allahummaghsil qalbi bimath-thalji wal-barad.
When to Read
This comprehensive dua is a powerful shield against many evils, including those that stem from ill intentions, gossip, and rumors which can weigh heavily on the heart and soul. Recite it in the morning and evening, and whenever you feel troubled by the whispers and backbiting of others. It's a personal invocation to safeguard your spiritual and emotional well-being.
How to Read
This dua should be recited with sincerity and conviction, focusing on the meaning of each phrase. Raise your hands in supplication as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us. While there isn't a prescribed number of times, reciting it consistently, especially during times of need or when facing such trials, enhances its protective effect. Make sure to maintain the etiquette of dua: facing the Qiblah if possible, beginning with praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, and ending with sincere belief in Allah's power to protect.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a deep well of protection. By seeking refuge in Allah from the "reversal of Your protection" and "sudden punishment," we are asking Him to shield us from calamities that might arise from envy or malicious intent, which often fuels gossip and rumors. The request to cleanse the heart and keep sins at bay directly combats the internal effects of such negativity. It's a holistic protection, seeking refuge from trials of wealth and poverty, the grave, and the Dajjal, all of which can be exacerbated by societal pressures and ill-will fueled by gossip.

Narrated Sa'id bin Abi Burda on the authority of his father, on the authority of his grandfather, that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "When the servant says: 'Bismillahi 'ala fi wa ni'mati wa kallahi ta'ala 'ala kulli shay'in', then it (the food) is protected. When the servant says: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka khayra hadha-t-ta'ami wa khayra ma juma'a lah, wa a'udhu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma juma'a lah', then all of it is preserved for him." Another narration states: Sa'id bin Abi Burda narrated from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ supplicated: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-qabr wa 'adhabil-qabr. Wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-ghina, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-faqr. Wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-masihid-dajjal.
