بَارَكَ اللَّهُ فِيكَ
May Allah bless you.
Barakallahu feek
When to Read
This beautiful and concise supplication is for when you witness something you admire, especially the success, health, or possessions of another Muslim. It serves as a spiritual shield, diverting any potential harm from the evil eye (al-'ayn) that might inadvertently arise from one's own admiration. Instead of letting envy or unspoken awe take root, this dua turns the moment into an act of worship, seeking Allah's blessings for both the admired person and for yourself by protecting you from casting an evil eye.
How to Read
Utter this phrase sincerely when you see something remarkable in a fellow Muslim. The intention is key: to acknowledge Allah's blessing upon them and to protect yourself from inadvertently causing harm through your gaze or admiration. It’s a simple yet profound way to practice goodwill and prevent the subtle dangers of the evil eye. Say it as soon as the admiration strikes, before any other thought or feeling takes hold.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit is protection against casting the evil eye, which is a real phenomenon mentioned in Islamic texts. By invoking Allah's blessing for the other person, you not only fulfill a Sunnah but also purify your own heart from potential envy or admiration that could lead to harm. It fosters a spirit of brotherhood and goodwill within the Ummah, turning moments of witnessing success into opportunities for mutual support and seeking Allah's favor. As the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught, 'If one of you sees something from his brother that amazes him, he should pray for blessing for him, for the evil eye is indeed real.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 5107)

Narrated Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunaif: 'Amir bin Rabiah narrated to me that Sahl bin Hunaif went out with the Prophet ﷺ towards Makkah, and they were in the company of the people of Al-Wadi. Sahl bin Hunaif was a handsome man with white skin. The Prophet ﷺ heard the people talking about how handsome he was. As they were walking, Sahl bin Hunaif was having a bath (or was about to have a bath). Umar bin Al-Khattab saw him and said, 'Will you not ask Allah's Messenger ﷺ to protect him?' Umar knew that Sahl bin Hunaif was very sensitive to the evil eye. The Prophet ﷺ came and Sahl bin Hunaif was having a bath. He covered himself with dust (on account of the evil eye). The Prophet ﷺ said, 'O Allah, protect him from the evil eye.' He said this three times. Then he said, 'When one of you has seen his brother or himself or his property what impresses him, he should seek Allah's blessings for him, for the evil eye is real.' (This narration has been reported through another chain of transmitters on the authority of 'Amir bin Rabiah, from the Prophet ﷺ).
