In the name of Allah, who with His name nothing can cause harm on earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Bismillahilladhi la yadurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Sami'ul-'Aleem
When to Read
Recite this dua in the morning and evening, especially when you feel a sense of unease, or when you know you will be interacting with family members whose envy or ill will you suspect. It's a powerful shield against unseen harm, including the effects of the evil eye and envy, which can manifest even from those closest to us.
How to Read
Recite it three times in the morning and three times in the evening. As you recite, focus your heart on Allah's power and protection. Believe that His name carries the greatest strength. You can also blow gently onto yourself and your loved ones after reciting, seeking Allah's blessing and protection.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication is a potent shield against all forms of harm, physical or spiritual. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that whoever recites this three times every morning and evening will not be afflicted by anything unexpectedly. This includes the subtle but real harm that can come from envy (hasad) and the evil eye (ayn), even when it originates from within one's own family. It fosters reliance on Allah alone and reminds us that true protection comes only from Him, regardless of the source of perceived threat.

Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever says: 'Bismillahilladhi la yadurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Sami'ul-'Aleem' (In the name of Allah, who with His name nothing can cause harm on earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing) three times in the morning, he will not be afflicted by any accident until the evening. And whoever says it three times in the evening, he will not be afflicted by any accident until the morning." (Sunan Abi Dawud 3869, Sunan Ibn Majah 3548 - Graded Hasan by scholars).
