This powerful dua is recommended to be recited in the evening, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to seek Allah's protection from the evils that may arise during the night. It's a beautiful practice to incorporate into your evening routine, perhaps just before you settle down to sleep, as a way to entrust yourself and your family to Allah's care.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, remembering that Allah's perfect words hold immense power and protection. It is recommended to repeat it three times upon returning home at night, or whenever you feel a need for increased protection. Imagine yourself enveloped by Allah's boundless mercy and might as you utter these words.

By reciting this dua, we are actively seeking Allah's shelter, acknowledging His ultimate power over all creation. The 'perfect words' of Allah refer to His divine decrees and His Book, the Quran. Hammam related: Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man came to Allah's Messenger ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah, what a night I had last night! Hassan the spider had stung me. He (the Prophet ﷺ) said: 'If you had recited this dua in the evening: A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created), it would not have harmed you.'
