أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
When to Read
This dua is particularly beneficial to recite as evening descends and the world begins to darken. It's a beautiful practice to integrate into your daily evening routine, perhaps just after Maghrib prayer or as you settle down for the night. The transition from day to night can sometimes bring a sense of unease or vulnerability, and this dua offers a powerful spiritual shield. Think of it as a moment to consciously hand over your protection to Allah as the visible world changes.
How to Read
Recite this dua three times. As you say it, focus your heart on Allah's immense power and His perfect creation. Imagine His words as a fortress, encompassing and protecting you. You can raise your hands slightly as you recite, though this is not a strict condition. The sincerity of your intention and the conviction in your heart are key.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting this dua three times in the evening and three times in the morning ensures protection from all harmful things. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Whoever says this three times in the morning, Allah will suffice him against anything hurtful. Whoever says it three times in the evening, Allah will suffice him against anything harmful.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). This protection extends beyond physical harm to encompass all forms of evil, including anxieties and fears that might surface as darkness falls.
