Daily Evening Routine
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2710

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, and from the evil of His creation, and from the whispers of devils, and from their presence.

A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min ghadabihi wa 'iqabihi, wa sharri 'ibadihi, wa min hamazatish-shayateeni wa an yahdhuroon

When to Read

This powerful supplication is particularly beneficial to recite as evening approaches, a time when Shaytan's whispers can often intensify. Recite it after sunset, perhaps before or after the Maghrib prayer, as a shield against intrusive thoughts, temptations, and anxieties that may arise during the night.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction, believing in Allah's power to protect you. It's best recited after the evening prayer, but can be said anytime as you feel the need for protection against whispers and temptations. Imagine yourself enveloped by Allah's perfect words, a barrier against any harm.

Virtues & Benefits

Reciting this dua is a direct application of the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ teaching on seeking refuge in Allah. It acknowledges our reliance on Him for protection against the insidious whispers of Shaytan, which can lead to doubts, temptations, and distress. The Prophet ﷺ taught this specific supplication as a means to ward off the evil influence of devils, especially during times when their whispers might be stronger.
