Dua for Waking Up at Night for Tahajjud

Daily Evening Routine
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 3118

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things omnipotent. Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and presence of heart as you stir from sleep. Pause to reflect on the meanings of each phrase: the uniqueness of Allah, His dominion, His praise, His power, and the ultimate reliance on Him for strength. This is not just a string of words, but a declaration of faith and submission.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ mentioned a profound reward for reciting this when waking up at night: 'Whoever wakes up at night and says: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things omnipotent. Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, and there is no might nor power except with Allah. Then he says: O Allah, forgive me, or he supplicates, his supplication will be accepted. If he performs ablution and prays, his prayer will be accepted.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 1154, 6306)
