Dua for Accepting the Day's Deeds Before Sleep

Daily Evening Routine
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 7:50

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, for goodly provision, and for deeds that are accepted.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is recited after 'Isha prayer or just before going to sleep. It's a beautiful way to conclude your day, asking Allah to purify your intentions and accept whatever good you managed to do.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely, with presence of heart. It is recommended to raise your hands slightly as you make this supplication, although this is not a strict condition for its acceptance. The key is the earnestness of your request to Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates three essential requests for a believer: beneficial knowledge, pure sustenance, and the ultimate success of having one's deeds accepted by Allah. Seeking accepted deeds is crucial, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that many deeds performed without sincere intention or proper adherence to the Sunnah are not accepted. This supplication, therefore, focuses our intention on what truly matters in the sight of our Creator.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to say when he woke up at night: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan' (O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, for goodly provision, and for deeds that are accepted).
