O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This dua is particularly poignant at the end of the day, perhaps after 'Isha prayer or just before sleeping. As you reflect on the day's activities, it's a perfect moment to ask Allah to accept the good you've done, to continue guiding you towards beneficial knowledge and provision, and to help you maintain the positive habits you may have started or continued.
How to Read
Recite this dua sincerely, with conviction in your heart. Raise your hands if you wish, as is customary for supplication. Focus on the meaning of each phrase: asking for knowledge that benefits you in this life and the next, provision that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by Allah. Itโs about seeking Allahโs continuous help in maintaining goodness.
Virtues & Benefits
This beautiful supplication is taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ to be recited in the morning, but its essence is vital for sustaining good deeds throughout the day and into the evening. Asking for beneficial knowledge helps us learn what is right and pleasing to Allah. Seeking goodly provision ensures we are sustained by lawful means, which is essential for our worship to be accepted. Most importantly, asking for 'acceptable deeds' ( 'amalan mutaqabbalan) is a profound plea. Itโs not enough to just do good; we must strive to do it in a way that Allah accepts. This includes sincerity (ikhlas), following the Sunnah, and doing it for His sake alone. By reciting this in the evening, you're essentially asking Allah to *sustain* the good youโve done, making it a part of your ongoing life and character.

The Messenger of Allah (๏ทบ) said: 'If any one of you wakes up in the morning asking for Allahโs sustenance for the day, he should say: Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan. (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds). And if he wakes up in the evening, he should say the same.'
