Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 734

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and accepted deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is recommended to be recited in the morning, but its essence of seeking beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds is applicable at any time. For the evening context, one can adapt the intention to ask Allah to grant them the ability to remain steadfast in good deeds throughout the night and the following day, and to protect them from idleness and procrastination after completing their evening prayers or other activities.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and focus. It is best recited after the Fajr prayer, as per the Sunnah. However, you can make this supplication at any point during the day or night, especially when you feel the need to recommit to seeking Allah's help in remaining productive and purposeful. Raising your hands is not specified for this particular dua, but maintaining a state of humility and sincerity is key.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua covers three vital aspects for a Muslim's life: beneficial knowledge that leads to righteous action, pure and lawful sustenance that supports worship, and deeds that are accepted by Allah. Seeking accepted deeds is crucial, as even extensive worship can be rendered fruitless if not performed with sincerity and according to the Sunnah. By asking for accepted deeds, we are essentially asking Allah to bless our efforts and make them pleasing in His sight, which is the ultimate goal. This also serves as a powerful way to guard against idleness by seeking Allah's assistance in utilizing our time wisely for His sake.
