Daily Evening Routine
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 3893

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, and from the evil of His servants, and from the whispers of the devils and their presence.

A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min ghadabihi wa 'iqabihi, wa sharri 'ibadihi, wa min hamazatish-shayateeni wa an yahduruun.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When anyone goes to his bed, he should take the lower part of his waist-cloth and shake it, and then say: أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ غَضَبِهِ وَعِقَابِهِ، وَشَرِّ عِبَادِهِ، وَمِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ (A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min ghadabihi wa 'iqabihi, wa sharri 'ibadihi, wa min hamazatish-shayateeni wa an yahduruun). For indeed, if he then dies, his death will be from a natural cause, and if he survives, he will wake up refreshed.' *Note: The translation of 'lower part of his waist-cloth' has varied interpretations, but the core teaching is the supplication itself. The hadith is graded Hasan by scholars like Al-Albani.*
