Yahya related to me from Malik, from Al-Hasan ibn Abi Muhammad al-Ahmari, from Sa'id ibn Yasar, that he heard Abu Hurayrah say that Allah's Messenger ﷺ said: "When any one of you goes to bed, he should take hold of the lower part of his garment and brush it with his hand three times, and say: 'Bismillah, I seek refuge in the words of Allah from the evil of what He created, from the heat of the fire, and from the evil of an evil illness.' Then when he lies down, he should say: 'O Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth and Lord of the Throne of the Mighty, our Lord and the Lord of everything, the Splitter of the grain and the date-stone, the Revealer of the Tawrah and the Injil and the Qur'an, I seek refuge in You from the evil of every evil, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of every animal that You seize by its forelock. O Allah, You are the First, there is nothing before You, and You are the Last, there is nothing after You, and You are the Outward, there is nothing above You, and You are the Inward, there is nothing besides You. Remove from us our debt and enrich us from poverty.' And Allah's Messenger ﷺ said: 'And he should say: Bismillah, a'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min ghadabihi wa 'iqabihi, wa min sharri 'ibadihi, wa min hamazatish-Shayateen wa an yahduruun.' (In the name of Allah, I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, and from the evil of His servants, and from the whispers of devils, and from their presence.)"
