Sahih HadithSunan Abu Dawud 5087

In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can cause harm in the earth, nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Bismillahilladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shai'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem

When to Read

This powerful dua is recommended to be recited in the morning and evening. As evening prayer begins, it offers a shield against the anxieties that might creep in during the night, and as morning breaks, it sets a protective tone for the day ahead, warding off its potential sorrows and worries.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely, with conviction in Allah's power and His perfect knowledge. Utter it three times in the morning and three times in the evening to receive its full blessings. It's a moment to pause, connect with your Creator, and entrust your well-being to Him.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ informed us that whoever recites this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening, nothing will harm him. This profound protection extends to all forms of harm, whether spiritual, physical, or emotional, shielding us from the troubles that may arise during the day and the night. It's a beautiful expression of tawakkul (reliance on Allah), recognizing that true safety lies only with Him.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu al-Darda': The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever says in the morning: "Bismillahilladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shai'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem (In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can cause harm in the earth, nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing)," then Allah will protect him from anything that might harm him until the evening, and whoever says it in the evening, Allah will protect him from anything that might harm him until the morning.'
