بِسْمِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from all evil jinn, both male and female.
Bismillahi, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.
When to Read
This supplication is recited before entering the bathroom (toilet or restroom). It's a beautiful reminder that even in a place we might consider private or mundane, we are still conscious of Allah's presence and seek His protection.
How to Read
Recite this dua before stepping into the bathroom with your left foot first. It is recommended to enter with the left foot and exit with the right foot, the opposite of entering one's home. This practice is rooted in the Sunnah and shows reverence for sacred spaces, even those that are functionally necessary like the bathroom.
Virtues & Benefits
By reciting this dua, we are asking Allah to protect us from any malevolent spirits or negative influences that may reside in such places. It's a statement of reliance on Allah and an acknowledgment that His protection encompasses all aspects of our lives, including our physical well-being and the relief we find in relieving ourselves. This seeking of refuge is a vital part of maintaining spiritual and physical purity, as the bathroom is where impurities are removed.
