O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, and son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your judgment upon me prevails. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to any of Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept with You in the knowledge of the unseen. I ask that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my grief, and the remover of my worries.
Allahumma inni 'abduka, wa-bn 'abdika, wa-bn amatika, nasiyati bi-yadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli-sm-in huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitadika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala-l-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, 'No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and then says: O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your judgment upon me prevails. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to any of Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept with You in the knowledge of the unseen. I ask that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my grief, and the remover of my worries; but Allah would remove his grief and His anxiety, and would replace his hardship with ease.' It was said: O Messenger of Allah, should we not learn these words? He replied: 'Yes, indeed. It is incumbent upon everyone who hears them after this that he should learn them.'
