اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This powerful dua is part of the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ morning supplications, recited after Fajr prayer. It's also incredibly relevant when facing trials. When difficulties arise, and we struggle to see the purpose, reciting this with sincerity can help shift our perspective. It's not just about asking for ease, but for the ability to understand, to gain insight ('ilman nafi'an), and to recognize that even in hardship, Allah's provision and plan are unfolding, and our actions in response can be acceptable to Him.
How to Read
Recite this dua with conviction, preferably after Fajr prayer as taught by the Prophet ﷺ. When difficulties arise, pause, take a deep breath, and make this dua. Visualize asking Allah for clarity and wisdom, recognizing that He is the source of all understanding. Focus on the sincerity of your intention and the trust you place in His plan, even when it's hidden from your sight.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication, while seemingly broad, is deeply connected to finding wisdom in hardship. By asking for 'beneficial knowledge,' we seek the understanding to discern Allah's wisdom. 'Good provision' reminds us that Allah provides in ways we may not expect, even during trials. 'Acceptable deeds' encourages us to focus on our response to difficulty – to maintain patience, gratitude, and good character, which are actions Allah accepts. It trains our hearts to look beyond the immediate pain and trust in the ultimate good and wisdom behind every situation, as Allah says, '...but perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you do not know.' (Al-Baqarah 2:216).

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): When it was morning, the Prophet ﷺ would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.)
