It's recommended to repeat it three times for added benefit, as the Prophet ﷺ often did with certain duas.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua offers a comprehensive shield against all forms of created evil, including subtle spiritual attacks, intrusive thoughts, and illusions that can disturb our peace. By seeking refuge in Allah's 'perfect words,' which refers to the Quran and His divine decree, we are placing our trust in His omnipotence and wisdom, knowing that nothing can harm us without His permission. The Prophet ﷺ taught this dua as a means of protection, assuring that whoever recites it will be protected from anything that could harm them.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever says: *'A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq'* (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created) at night, no harm will come to him.'
