QuranQuran 94:5-6

For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

Fa inna ma'al 'usri yusra

When to Read

This ayah is a powerful reminder to be recited during any challenging period. Whether you are facing financial difficulties, health issues, family problems, or any other form of tribulation, repeating these words with conviction can bring immense comfort and perspective. It's a declaration of faith that even in the darkest moments, relief is on its way, ordained by Allah.

How to Read

Recite this ayah with full conviction and hope. Understand its meaning deeply: that Allah has linked ease directly to hardship. Reflect on past difficulties you've overcome, seeing how Allah provided a way out. The act of reciting itself becomes a form of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and a connection to His promise. It's best to recite it regularly, especially when feeling overwhelmed, allowing its message to permeate your heart and mind.

Virtues & Benefits

The primary benefit is the immense psychological and spiritual comfort derived from knowing that Allah, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, has promised ease alongside hardship. This ayah instills hope and patience, preventing despair. It reminds us that difficulties are not eternal and that Allah's plan includes eventual relief. By reflecting on this promise, we strengthen our reliance on Allah (tawakkul) and our resilience in facing life's trials. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself exemplified this, as mentioned in a hadith: 'No hardship ever came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ but that he said: 'O Allah, Subhanaka, the Great, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your slave woman. My forelock is in Your hand. Your judgment upon me is inescapable, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or that You have retained in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur’an the delight of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a remover of my sadness and a banisher of my anxiety.' (Ahmad, graded Sahih by Al-Albani).
