Difficulty
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1305

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَمْلِكُهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ.

O Allah, I ask You of Your Grace, for indeed, no one possesses it except You.

Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik, fa innahu la yamlikuha illa ant.

When to Read

This powerful dua is perfect for those moments when you face a setback, a missed opportunity, or a door that seems to have firmly closed. Whether it's a job rejection, a failed project, or a personal disappointment, this is the time to turn to Allah. It's a reminder that no matter how final a situation seems, Allah's bounty and mercy are vast, and He can open paths you never imagined. Recite it with sincerity when you feel that sense of closure and uncertainty, trusting in Allah's plan.

How to Read

The essence of this dua lies in its sincere supplication and recognition of Allah's sole power. Raise your hands in a gesture of seeking and humility, facing the Qiblah if possible. Utter the words with a clear intention, focusing on your need and your absolute reliance on Allah. Believe that He hears you and has the power to grant your request. It's best recited with a calm heart, reflecting on the closing of one door as an opportunity for Allah to open a better one.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates the beautiful Islamic principle of *tawakkul* (reliance on Allah) coupled with seeking His grace. By asking 'of Your Grace,' you are acknowledging that whatever good comes to you is from Allah's infinite kindness and generosity, not something you necessarily earned alone. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this supplication, demonstrating that even in moments of perceived closure, we should always look to Allah for new opportunities and blessings. It fosters a positive mindset, replacing despair with hope and trust in Allah's perfect wisdom and timing. The knowledge that 'no one possesses it except You' reinforces our understanding of Allah's unique and supreme power over all affairs.
