أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq

When to Read

This is a powerful dua to recite when you feel vulnerable to unseen evils, or simply as a regular practice to seek Allah's protection. It's particularly beneficial to say this when entering a new environment, before sleeping, or at the start and end of the day. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to protect us from general harm, both during the day and throughout the night.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity, believing that Allah's perfect words are a shield against all forms of evil. It is recommended to say it three times in the morning and three times in the evening to attain complete protection, as indicated by the Sunnah. Focus on the meaning and the immense power of seeking refuge solely in Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

Reciting this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening guarantees that Allah will protect you from all harmful things. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ explicitly stated: 'Whoever says this three times in the morning will be protected from everything until the evening, and whoever says it three times in the evening will be protected from everything until the morning.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). This protection encompasses physical dangers, spiritual attacks, and the whispers of Shaytan.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, what has you worried? He said: The devil went around me during the night and tried to snatch my prayer. Allah enabled me to defeat him. Should I not teach you some words to say when you face him? He said: Yes. He said: Seek refuge in Allah from him and say: 'O Allah, give me victory over the devil and give me victory over him.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). In another narration, it is mentioned: 'Seek refuge in Allah from him and say: A'udhu billahi minash shaytanir rajeem (I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan).'. The Prophet (peace be upon him) also taught: 'A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq' (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created). This last du'a was taught by the Prophet (peace be upon him) for general protection from all evil creation.
