O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You, which You have revealed in Your Book, or You have taught to any of Your creation, or You have retained in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sorrow, and the reliever of my anxiety.
Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatika, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka. As'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaibi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

It's recommended to raise your hands slightly while making this supplication, as is the Sunnah for many duas, though it is not a strict condition.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly addresses the root of anxiety and sorrow by turning to the Creator and His divine scripture. It acknowledges Allah's complete control (Your forelock is in Your hand) and His justice, fostering acceptance and trust. The specific request to make the Qur'an the 'spring of the heart' signifies its ability to bring life, joy, and growth where there was barrenness and despair. It's a profound way to seek inner peace through spiritual means, transforming mental burdens into reliance on Allah.

I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say: 'No person suffers a calamity on the earth and recites: 'Verily, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.' O Allah, reward me for my affliction and replace it for me with something better.' – but Allah will reward him for his affliction and replace it for him with something better.' He (ﷺ) then said: 'And when a servant of Allah says: 'O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You, which You have revealed in Your Book, or You have taught to any of Your creation, or You have retained in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sorrow, and the reliever of my anxiety.' – Allah will remove his anxiety and replace his sorrow with joy.' The Companions said: 'O Messenger of Allah, should we learn these words?' He said: 'Yes, it is necessary for everyone who hears them.'
