Yahya related to me from Malik, from Abu Az-Zubayr al-Makki, from Abu Tufayl 'Amir bin Wathilah, that Nafi' bin 'Abd al-Harith said, 'Shall I not tell you of a supplication that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to make? 'Umar bin al-Khattab asked him, 'Yes.' He said, 'I used to invoke Allah with this supplication every day (or night) by saying: "O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Lord of everything and its Sovereign, I bear witness that there is no god but You, I seek refuge in You from the evil of myself and from the evil of Satan and his associates, and from bringing evil upon myself or driving it to any Muslim." 'Umar said, 'Invoke Allah with it every day (or night), for indeed it is the supplication made by the Prophet ﷺ.' This narration, while similar in theme, refers to a different specific dua. The primary dua for ease in danger mentioned in the entry is the one found in Sunan Abi Dawud 5087.
