O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is executed. Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You, to make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my grief, and the remover of my worries, and my leader and my beloved.
Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibn 'abdika, ibn ammatika, nasiyatii biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitanika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi, wa qa'idi wa habibi.

‘Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'No servant is afflicted by any anxiety or grief, saying: Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibn 'abdika, ibn ammatika, nasiyatii biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitanika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi, wa qa'idi wa habibi. Except that Allah will take away his anxiety and grief and replace them with the satisfaction of the matter.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, should we not learn these words?' He said: 'Yes, it is worthy that he who has heard them learns them.'
