It was narrated from Umm Salamah that Abu Salamah died and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, after he had passed away. He said: 'Seek forgiveness for him and say: O Allah, open the gates of heaven for him and open the doors of Paradise for him, so that the righteous among his predecessors and successors may meet him, and make his grave spacious for him and illuminate it for him.' He said: 'I said: O Messenger of Allah, he has passed away and will not return.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The life of this world is but a brief period, and the hereafter is eternal. O Allah, forgive him, and grant him the ability to attain the high ranks among the guided, and grant his succession among those who remain. O Lord of the worlds, and make his grave spacious for him and illuminate it for him.'
