اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision against Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace, so that I may not need anyone other than You.

Allahumma ikfinii bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghninii bifadlika 'amman siwak.

When to Read

This powerful dua is best recited when you are facing financial difficulties, are in debt, or feel overwhelmed by your financial obligations. It's particularly effective to say it after every obligatory prayer, as well as during times of sincere supplication, like the last third of the night or when breaking your fast.

How to Read

Recite this dua with complete conviction and sincerity, focusing on your need for Allah's help. Understand the meaning behind each word: asking for lawful means to avoid unlawful ones, and seeking self-sufficiency through Allah's bounty. Raise your hands in supplication as you would for other duas. Remember, the Prophet ﷺ taught us this dua as a means to seek Allah's protection and provision.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates the essence of Tawakkul (reliance on Allah). By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful provisions, we are actively turning away from haram and seeking purity in our income and sustenance. The second part, 'enrich me by Your grace, so that I may not need anyone other than You,' is a profound request for contentment and independence from creation, fostering a deep sense of gratitude for Allah's blessings, however big or small. It's a spiritual shield against the anxieties of debt and financial hardship.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ sought refuge in Allah from debt, saying: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-ma'tham wa'l-maghram. (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from sin and heavy debt.)' Someone said to him: 'You often seek refuge from heavy debt, O Prophet of Allah!' He replied: 'A man, when he is in debt, tells lies and his promises are broken.' And he also said: 'Allahumma ikfinii bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghninii bifadlika 'amman siwak.' (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision against Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace, so that I may not need anyone other than You.)
