O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disappearance of Your blessings, and the change of Your protection, and the suddenness of Your punishment, and all of Your displeasure. And I seek refuge in You from the severity of affliction, and the attainment of misery, and the evil of decree, and the rejoicing of enemies. And I seek refuge in You from knowledge that is of no benefit, and from a heart that does not fear You, and from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered. O Allah, I ask You for guidance, and piety, and chastity, and contentment (freedom from need).
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matika, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatika, wa faja'ati niqmatika, wa jami'i sakhatika, wa a'udhu bika min jahdil-bala'i, wa darakish-shaqa'i, wa su'il-qada'i, wa shamatatil-a'da'i, wa a'udhu bika min 'ilmin la yanfa', wa min qalbin la yakhsha', wa min nafsin la tashba', wa min du'a'in la yusma', Allahumma inni as'alukal-huda wat-tuqa wal-'afafa wal-ghina.

It's a shield against the slippery slope that can lead to wanting things you can't afford, ultimately resulting in debt.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, raising your hands as the Prophet ﷺ would when making dua. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, truly seeking Allah's protection from these spiritual and material harms. Visualize yourself being shielded from the temptations and pressures that lead to debt, and ask Allah to grant you contentment with what He has provided.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates seeking refuge in Allah from a wide range of afflictions, both worldly and religious. Specifically, 'seeking refuge from the attainment of misery' (darakish-shaqa'i) covers falling into situations that bring hardship, including the misery of being burdened by debt. Furthermore, asking for 'chastity and contentment' (al-'afaf wal-ghina) directly counteracts the desires that can be fueled by bad company, leading to financial strain. By seeking Allah's help, we strengthen our resolve against societal pressures and peer influence that might push us towards debt.

Yahya related to me from Malik, from Humayd al-Tawil, from Anas ibn Malik that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Seek refuge in Allah from the falling away of His favour, the change of His wellbeing, His sudden vengeance, and everything that He is displeased with, and the evil of what He has created.' Yahya said, 'Malik mentioned this in al-Muwatta, relating it from al-Tufayl ibn Ubayy ibn Ka'b from his father from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he said, 'When anyone of you wakes up in the morning, he should say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the falling away of Your favour, the change of Your wellbeing, Your sudden vengeance, and all Your displeasure.' And when anyone of you reaches the evening, he should say the same.' (Malik 1.16.10)
