اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ.

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I do not need to ask anyone other than You.

Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.

When to Read

This dua is perfect for reciting when facing financial difficulties, feeling overwhelmed by debt, or when seeking Allah's help in finding halal means to meet your needs. It's especially poignant when you've exhausted your own efforts and are turning to Allah with sincere reliance. Recite it regularly, particularly after your obligatory prayers, to instill a sense of peace and trust in Allah's plan.

How to Read

Make this dua with a sincere heart, focusing on your need and your trust in Allah's ability to provide. Raise your hands in supplication if possible, embodying the reliance (tawakkul) on your Creator. Believe that Allah will indeed suffice you with what is lawful and enrich you with His bounty, even if the path isn't immediately clear. Consistency in reciting this dua, coupled with taking lawful means, is key.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, directly asks Allah to grant us **halal provision** (lawful and pure sustenance) and to make us **independent of need from anyone other than Him**. It addresses the core struggle of debt and financial hardship by seeking divine intervention. By asking to be sufficed by what is lawful, we are protected from resorting to haram means out of desperation. The second part, asking to be enriched by His grace, fosters contentment and reliance, reducing the sting of needing to ask others. It is a beautiful expression of Tawakkul (trust in Allah) and a recognition that true wealth and sufficiency come only from Him.

Source & Authentication

The hadith is narrated by Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: A disbeliever had some dinars he had struck. He came and sat by the Prophet ﷺ and spoke to him, and he was harsh with him. The Companions became angry and wanted to attack him. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Leave him, for the thirsty man is coming.' Then a man with his hair dishevelled and his face dirty came. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Is there any water?' They said: 'No.' The man said: 'I have some dinars, but I do not have anything to spend them on.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'O Allah, let him not be killed by thirst.' Then a servant girl came with some water in a skin. The Prophet ﷺ and the man drank. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: 'O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I do not need to ask anyone other than You.' So the Prophet ﷺ said: 'O Ali, that man is sufficient for you.' Ali said: 'And what is sufficient for me?' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'It is the words which I have said to you.'
