اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision against Your unlawful, and enrich me by Your grace, independently of anyone other than You.

When to Read
Life throws many financial challenges our way. Sometimes, debt can feel like a crushing mountain, especially when you're also navigating difficult dynamics with family members who might be affected or even part of the reason for the financial strain. This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet ﷺ to his companion Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), is a direct plea to Allah for sufficiency. It’s for those moments when you feel overwhelmed by debt, or when you wish to free yourself from reliance on anyone other than Allah for your sustenance and needs, whether that reliance is on individuals, institutions, or even the conditional 'help' that comes with strings attached. Recite it whenever you feel the weight of debt or the burden of financial dependency.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and full conviction in Allah’s boundless ability to provide. Understand the meaning of each phrase: you are asking Allah to make you self-sufficient through His lawful provisions, protecting you from resorting to forbidden means, and enriching you purely through His grace, without needing to depend on anyone else. Make this dua consistently, perhaps after every salah, or during times when duas are more readily accepted, such as in sujood, between the adhan and iqamah, or in the last third of the night.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting this dua is a profound act of tawakkul (reliance on Allah). When you sincerely ask Allah to 'suffice you with His lawful provision against Your unlawful' and to 'enrich you by His grace, independently of anyone other than Him,' you are making a comprehensive request for financial well-being rooted in halaal earnings. The Prophet ﷺ assured us that even if one's debt were 'like the mountain of Thabir,' Allah would pay it off. This isn't just about debt cancellation; it's about gaining spiritual and material independence, finding barakah in your lawful earnings, and achieving peace of mind knowing that your provision comes directly from the Most Generous, freeing you from needing to seek it from others who may bring conditions or expectations. It redirects your focus from the limitations of creation to the unlimited power of the Creator.

A slave who had agreed to a contract of manumission came to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: 'I am unable to pay my debt, so help me.' Ali said: 'Shall I not teach you some words that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me? If you had a debt like the mountain of Thabir, Allah would pay it off for you. Say: "O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision against Your unlawful, and enrich me by Your grace, independently of anyone other than You."' — Jami' At-Tirmidhi 3563
