Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3563

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ.

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I am not in need of anyone other than You.

Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.

When to Read

This dua is profoundly relevant when facing financial hardship, especially after experiencing a betrayal of trust that has led to debt. Recite it regularly, particularly after Fajr prayer and whenever you feel overwhelmed by the burden of debt. It's a plea for divine sufficiency and a reminder to turn to Allah for sustenance, especially when dealing with the shame and difficulty that can accompany financial loss due to others' actions.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, looking towards Allah for relief. Ensure you are in a state of purity (wudu) if possible, and face the Qiblah. Raising your hands during the dua is also a recommended practice. Understand that this is not just a set of words, but a conversation with your Creator, seeking His direct intervention and support. Pair this dua with sincere effort to rectify the situation, such as seeking honest ways to repay the debt and avoiding future betrayals.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a powerful supplication for financial security and independence from needing anything created. By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful provisions, we are aligning our desires with His commands and seeking blessings that are pure. The second part, 'enrich me with Your grace, so that I am not in need of anyone other than You,' is a profound statement of Tawakkul (reliance on Allah). It fosters contentment and reduces dependence on people, which can be particularly important when dealing with the fallout of a trust betrayal. Allah's grace is boundless, and turning to Him ensures we receive help that is both sufficient and pure.

Source & Authentication

The hadith describes how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to a man who was facing a lot of debt. The man said, 'I said that a lot, and Allah removed my debt.' This highlights the efficacy of the dua when recited with earnestness and coupled with sincere reliance on Allah.
