اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِواكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your bounty so that I am not in need of anyone but You.
Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak
When to Read
Recite this dua regularly, especially when facing financial hardship, debt, or when contemplating fulfilling religious obligations like Hajj or Zakat that may involve borrowing. It's a powerful supplication to seek Allah's help in meeting these obligations through permissible means and to gain independence from reliance on anyone but Him.
How to Read
Make this dua with sincerity and conviction, understanding that Allah is the ultimate provider. Raise your hands in supplication as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us. It's recommended to recite it after your obligatory prayers or during times of quiet reflection, such as in the last third of the night. Focus on the meaning of the words, asking Allah to guide you to lawful earnings and to fulfill your needs through His grace.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a comprehensive request for financial well-being through legitimate means. By asking Allah to suffice us with 'halal' (lawful) provision, we seek protection from unlawful earnings that can bring misfortune. The second part, 'wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak' (enrich me with Your bounty so that I am not in need of anyone but You), is a profound statement of Tawakkul (reliance on Allah). It helps foster contentment and reduces dependence on creation, aligning our hearts with the true source of all wealth and sustenance. This dua is particularly relevant when incurring debt for obligations like Hajj, as it seeks Allah's help to fulfill this pillar of Islam without falling into impermissible ways of acquiring funds.

Narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I cannot afford to pay off my debt, so help me.' He ﷺ said: 'Shall I teach you some words that if you say them, Allah will pay off your debt for you, even if it were as much as Mount Sarah (a mountain in Yemen)?' He said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He ﷺ said: 'Say: اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِواكَ' (Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak).
