Debt
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 5893

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men.) Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate a lot, saying: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-barasi wal-junuuni wal-judhaami wa sayyi'il-asqaami.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from leucoderma, madness, elephantiasis, and evil diseases.) Another narration by Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) states that the Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate, saying: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-fitnati n-nar, wa a'udhu bika minal-'adhaabi l-qabr.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Fire and from the punishment of the grave.) Sahih al-Bukhari 5893
