اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I do not need to ask anyone besides You.
Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent when facing financial hardship, including the burden of debt. It's excellent to recite when you receive an inheritance, praying for Allah to bless it and purify it, ensuring it brings lawful sustenance and removes the need to rely on anyone else. You can make it a regular practice after prayers, especially Fajr and Maghrib, or during times of financial planning.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere conviction and a hopeful heart. Maintain a state of purity (wudu) if possible. Raise your hands slightly, as one would when making any dua, and focus on the meaning of the words. Believe that Allah (SWT) is the ultimate provider and that His decree is always for our best.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful supplication, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, directly asks Allah for two immense blessings: sufficiency through lawful means and independence from neediness. When facing debt, it's a plea for Allah to provide the means for repayment through legitimate avenues. When inheriting wealth, it’s a prayer for that wealth to be purified and blessed (barakah), ensuring it benefits you and your family in this life and the next, without leading you into prohibited means or dependence on others.

Narrated Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): A debtor came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said: 'I am unable to pay my debt, so help me.' He ﷺ said: 'Shall I teach you some words with which, if you say them, and if you have a debt as large as Mount Sabir, Allah will help you to pay it?' He said: 'Yes, teach me.' He ﷺ said: 'Say: Allahumma-kfini bi-halalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bi-fadlika 'amman siwak.' (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I do not need to ask anyone besides You).
