Dua for Debt Repayment Amidst Unjust Claims and Seeking Divine Justice

Debt
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6369

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from grief and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the overwhelming of debt and the subjugation of men.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhl, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.

When to Read

This powerful dua is best recited when facing financial hardship, especially when burdened by debt and feeling unjustly treated or pressured by others. It's a comprehensive plea for relief, seeking Allah's protection from both the internal struggles of worry and the external pressures of debt and oppressive people.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere conviction, raising your hands as you do. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, truly seeking Allah's refuge. It can be recited at any time, but it is particularly potent during the last third of the night, after prayers, or during times of prostration. Remember to also take practical steps to address your debt.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication offers immense relief by seeking Allah's protection against the mental anguish of debt (grief and sorrow), the inability to act (incapacity and laziness), and the fear that can paralyze action (cowardice and stinginess). Crucially, it specifically asks for refuge from 'ghalabatid-dayn' (the overwhelming of debt) and 'qahrir-rijal' (the subjugation or overpowering by men/people), which directly addresses the feeling of being unjustly treated and burdened by creditors or oppressive forces. It's a holistic request for both spiritual and worldly assistance.
