اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I shall not need need of anyone besides You.
Allahumma-kfinii bi halalika 'an haramik, wa aghninii bifadlik 'amman siwak
When to Read
This dua is particularly powerful when facing financial hardship, especially when the debt was incurred for legitimate and noble reasons like supporting one's family, essential needs, or even for the sake of Allah (such as charity or education). Recite it regularly, especially after obligatory prayers or during times of sincere supplication, with a firm belief in Allah's ability to provide relief.
How to Read
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this concise yet comprehensive dua. It's best recited with sincerity, focus, and conviction. Raise your hands as you would during supplication, facing the Qiblah if possible. Begin by praising Allah and sending salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ. Then, recite this dua, reflecting on its meaning and trusting that Allah, the Most Generous, will respond. Persistence is key; continue reciting it even if relief isn't immediate.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses a profound request for two essential blessings: lawful provision and independence from need. By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful provisions, we seek protection from unlawful means and dishonest earnings. By asking to be enriched by His grace, we are asking for contentment and freedom from dependence on creation, which is a source of true peace and dignity. When the debt is for a noble cause, this dua carries added weight, as one's intention is pure, and Allah is the best granter of needs for those who strive in His way.

Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a "Mukaatab" (a slave who had agreed with his master to pay a ransom for his freedom) came to him and said: 'I am unable to pay my ransom, so help me.' Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'Shall I not teach you words that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught you, and if you had the debt of Sir had (a type of precious stone) on you, Allah would pay it for you? Say: Allahumma-kfinii bi halalika 'an haramik, wa aghninii bifadlik 'amman siwak' (O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I shall not need need of anyone besides You).
