اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I am in no need of anyone other than You.
Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent when facing financial hardship, especially when that hardship is exacerbated by unjust systems or oppressive rulers who may impose unfair taxes, confiscations, or exploitative economic policies. Recite it during times of intense need, after prayers, or at any moment you feel overwhelmed by debt and the injustice surrounding it. Making it a regular part of your supplications during difficult financial periods is also highly recommended.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere conviction and a clear intention. Raise your hands as you would during supplication, facing the Qiblah if possible. Speak with humility and a sense of earnest reliance on Allah. Focus on the meaning of the words, acknowledging Allah as the sole provider and sustainer. It's best to recite it after completing your obligatory prayers, but it can be made at any time you feel the need. Maintain a state of purity (wudu) if possible, and remember to pair your dua with practical efforts to resolve your debt situation.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua directly asks Allah to provide lawful means to meet your needs, steering you away from haram (forbidden) avenues. It seeks sufficiency through Allah's bounty, fostering independence from reliance on creation. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this to his companion Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was burdened with debt, and it served as a means for him to eventually pay off his obligations. By seeking Allah's help, one can find relief from debt, even in oppressive circumstances, as Allah is the ultimate controller of all affairs and can open doors to provision that are unseen.

Narrated Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): A debt-bonding contract was brought to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He read it and said: 'Indeed, there is in this a wording which is undesirable.' He said: 'O Ali, indeed, Allah's Messenger said: 'If a person is burdened with debt, then let him supplicate with these words, for verily Allah will remove his debt for him, even if it be as great as the mountain of Uhud.' The words are: Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak. (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I am in no need of anyone other than You.)
