O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the subjugation of men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijali.

Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses seeking refuge from many afflictions that can plague a person. Specifically, seeking refuge from 'the burden of debt and the subjugation of men' (غَلَبَةِ الدَّيْنِ وَقَهْرِ الرِّجَالِ) directly addresses the fear of overwhelming debt that can lead to one's spirit being crushed or facing harsh treatment from creditors or authorities, potentially including imprisonment. By seeking Allah's protection, we ask Him to ease our burdens, provide means of repayment, and shield us from the negative outcomes of debt.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to seek refuge in Allah from these matters, and this supplication is a comprehensive plea for protection against both inner struggles and external pressures, including financial distress and the resulting human pressures.
