اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful so that I am independent of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me by Your grace so that I am independent of anyone but You.

Allahummak-fini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwaka.

When to Read

This powerful dua can be recited at any time you feel burdened by debt, are actively seeking halal provision, or wish to strengthen your independence from reliance on others. It's particularly beneficial to incorporate into your daily routine, such as after your obligatory prayers, during your morning and evening adhkar, or in moments of personal struggle and sincere need. The Prophet ﷺ taught this specific dua to someone facing debt, emphasizing its direct relevance to financial relief.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere conviction and a deep understanding of its profound meaning. As you utter these words, reflect on your absolute reliance on Allah alone for sustenance and your earnest desire to avoid unlawful earnings and dependence on creation. It is a sunnah to raise your hands when making dua, signifying humility and earnest pleading to your Creator. Have firm certainty that Allah will answer your prayer in the way that is best for you, whether that is through easing your debt, opening doors to halal provision, or granting you contentment.

Virtues & Benefits

The immense benefit of this dua is explicitly stated by the Prophet ﷺ, who promised the man seeking help: "Allah will settle your debt, even if your debt is like Mount Uhud." (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3563). This divine promise assures us of Allah's direct assistance in clearing even the heaviest financial burdens. Beyond mere debt relief, this dua cultivates a mindset of striving for **halal earnings** and seeking true independence through Allah's boundless grace, thereby protecting us from the dangers and impurity of **haram sources** of income. It strengthens our *tawakkul* (reliance on Allah) and fosters deep contentment, reminding us that true richness comes from being independent of everyone except Allah.

Source & Authentication

Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have a debt." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Shall I not teach you words which, if you say them, Allah will settle your debt, even if your debt is like Mount Uhud? Say: 'Allahummak-fini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwaka.'"
