Debt
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6369

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt and from the oppression of men.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabad-dayni wa qahri ar-rijali.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua offers immense spiritual and practical benefits. By seeking refuge in Allah from debt, we are not just asking for financial relief but also protection from the associated distress, anxiety, and the feeling of being controlled by our obligations. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself sought refuge in Allah from these very things, demonstrating that this is a practical and effective way to address such concerns. It also safeguards against the 'oppression of men,' which can manifest in harsh demands from creditors or the shame associated with inability to pay. It's a holistic plea for ease and well-being, encompassing both worldly and spiritual peace.
