I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, and from the evil of His servants, and from the suggestions of devils and from their presence.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abdullah bin Khubaib: 'We went out on a very dark and rainy night to look for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to lead us in prayer. We found him and asked him, 'Will you lead us in prayer and give us some advice?' He took hold of my hand and said: 'Recite!' I recited 'Qul Huwallahu Ahad' and the two *Mu'awwidhatayn* (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) three times each in the morning and evening. This will be sufficient for you against everything.' Later, Abdullah bin Khubaib narrated: 'I went out with my father to seek refuge with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the scorchers of the eyes and the contagion of the head. He said: 'Recite: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in Your perfect words from Your anger and Your punishment, and from the evil of Your servants, and from the suggestions of devils and their presence.'' Abdullah said: 'So I recited them, and they became a protection for me.' (Note: The specific text of the dua for protection from devils and their presence is often recited in conjunction with general protection duas). This narration highlights the Prophet's ﷺ emphasis on seeking refuge in Allah's words for comprehensive protection. The version provided is a widely accepted formulation for seeking refuge from various evils.
