رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [also] my offspring. Our Lord, and accept [my] supplication.
Rabbij'alni muqeemus-salati wa min dhurriyyati, rabbana wa taqabbal du'a.
When to Read
This powerful dua, made by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him, is a cornerstone for any parent wishing for righteous children. We should recite it regularly, especially during our daily prayers (Salat) and at times when duas are more readily accepted, like the last third of the night or between the Adhan and Iqamah. It's not just a one-time supplication but a continuous plea for our children's spiritual and moral well-being.
How to Read
Recite this ayah with sincerity and conviction, understanding its deep meaning. Imagine your children establishing prayer and embodying good character as you say it. It's best recited when you are in a state of purity (wudu) and facing the Qiblah, though sincerity is the most important aspect. You can also blow gently onto your children after reciting it, a practice that carries blessings.
Virtues & Benefits
This verse from Surah Ibrahim beautifully encapsulates the essence of seeking righteous offspring. Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) not only prayed for himself to be steadfast in prayer but also for his lineage. This teaches us that our own efforts in practicing Islam are interconnected with the well-being of our children. By reciting this, we are asking Allah (SWT) to make our children not just observers of Islam, but doers – establishing prayer, which is the pillar of our deen, and by extension, nurturing within them a strong moral compass guided by faith. It's a comprehensive dua for a legacy of faith and good character.
